Loss of innocence is coming to an age of knowing. When you are young, you think the world is going to be a perfect place for you to live. After you grow up and become an adult you realize it isn't. The world is mean and full of mean and cruel people. When scout lost her mother, she lost innocence. Even before she was born she lost it. Some people couldn't even imagine what life would be like without a mother. Scout wasn't effected at first because she never had any experiences with her mother.
